The Films

It’s no surprise that Erica Gavin has appeared in three of the most seminal exploitation films of the late 1960s and early 70s…

beginning with the super-explosive and totally in color VIXEN!  This outrageous film was one of the first to garner an “X” rating and cemented Erica’s icon status as a character suspended between the traditional mores of American society and the freewheeling sexual revolution then just blasting off.  By the time she appeared in BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS, the revolution was in full swing, and this former The Losers dancer was now appearing in MGM’s gambol with Russ Meyer.  Later, Johnathan Demme cast her as the winsome Jacqueline in CAGED HEAT where she plays an inmate that busts out of a women’s prison – replete with shower rooms scenes, vicious rapes, fantasy sequences, and an exciting and occasionally hilarious escape that turns into a road film.
